Many dogs with spinal issues but others with multiple limb injuries require prolonged hospitalization in the immediate postoperative period. Some of our patients stay for weeks. This is OK. We are setup to provide this care. Often we can offer prolonged accommodation at discounted rates when our nursing staff learn how to care for your pet with minimal intervention by our vets. We can discuss a feasible option to suit the care required and fit in with your budgeting.

This older Staffy had a condition called 'fibrocartilaginous embolism' which tends to occur suddenly and lead to varying degrees of hindlimb weakness. The condition is thought to be a vascular accident, or spinal stroke. The condition is not painful and most dogs will regain ambulatory fuinction within a few weeks. Here you see a floatation vest and an owner helping support the rear end during one of many treadmill sessions. This dog was a long term patient and stayed with us for weeks.
